What this service is.
When a lawn is too far gone to reseed, or you want grass now instead of in a few months, sod is the answer. We strip out the old growth, prep and grade the soil so it drains right, and lay fresh sod tight with staggered seams so it knits into one lawn. We install fescue, bermuda, and zoysia, and we match the grass to your sun, your soil, and how you use the yard. Bare-spot repair uses the same approach on a smaller scale.

Who it is for and when to do it
This is for lawns that are mostly weeds or bare dirt, new construction with no grass yet, erosion-prone slopes, and worn spots that never recover on their own. If a lawn can be saved with aeration and overseeding instead, we will tell you, because that costs less.
Timing in the Upstate. Fescue sod goes down best in fall here, and it can also be installed in early spring. Bermuda and zoysia sod do best installed from late spring into summer when they root fast in the warm soil. We can install sod through most of the year, but matching the grass to the season gives you the strongest result.
How we price it
Sod is priced by the square footage installed, which covers the sod, the soil prep, and the labor to lay it. We measure the area and give you one total before any grass is ordered.

Sod Installation questions
How long until I can walk on new sod?
Stay off it for about two weeks while the roots take hold, then keep traffic light for another couple of weeks. The first two weeks of consistent watering are what decides whether the sod roots in or dries out.
Which type of sod is best for my yard?
It depends on sun and use. Tall fescue handles shade and stays green in cool months. Bermuda loves full sun and heavy use but goes dormant and brown in winter. Zoysia is dense and handles some shade. We match the grass to your specific yard instead of installing one type for everyone.
Should I sod or just reseed?
If the lawn still has a decent base, aeration and overseeding is cheaper and often enough. If it is mostly weeds, bare dirt, or you need grass right away, sod is the better call. We will look at your lawn and give you the honest answer, even when it is the less expensive one.
